Rise Up

I-stand-at-the-door-and-knock1

Based on Isaiah 52:13-53:12:

Behold the suffering Servant there,

The One so mocked and marred.

We men can just but stand and stare

At Him our hands have scarred.

He grew up like a tender plant,

Unlike the charming rose.

We spite Him–for His death we chant,

The One Who sorrow knows.

Rise up, O servants of our God,

Rise up–embrace His pain.

Look on His pain and stand in awe.

And worship the Lamb that’s slain.

Behold the Suffering Servant there

The One Who takes our pain.

Our greatest grief He freely bears

Though not for Him we care.

Stricken, smitten, afflicted One–

He’s crushed for our great sins.

Though we like sheep have from Him run,

He laid our mess on Him.

Rise up, O servants of our God,

Rise up–embrace His pain.

Look on His pain and stand in awe.

And worship the Lamb that’s slain.

Behold the suffering servant there

The One Oppressed yet calm.

Like slaughtered Lamb with death unfair,

He’s placed in tomb embalmed.

Though He had not done one thing wrong,

God struck Him with my sin.

Fear not–His days will be prolonged.

That One shall rise again.

Rise up, O risen Son of God!

Rise up–and help our pain.

We see the tomb and stand in awe.

And worship the Lamb that’s slain.
