God Gave Up

Based on Romans 8:32

God Who spared not Jesus Christ
Sent Him to pay sin’s high price,
Gave Him up to men so wild,
Let them beat His only Child.
God Whose wrath should fall on me
Let His wrath fall on that tree.
Then Christ drank all of that cup
As God gave His own Son up.

Sky was dark and veil was ripped.
Jesus took the final sip.
All God’s wrath on sin was done
When God gave up His dear Son.

God Who spared not His own Son,
Freely let His lifeblood run.
Let the blood of purity
Soak the ground of Calvary.
Then God turned His Son to shun
As the Man cried out, “It’s done!”
Then my sin-soaked robe turned white–
All the place was bathed in light.

Sky was dark and veil was ripped.
Jesus took the final sip.
All God’s wrath on sin was done
When God gave up His dear Son.

God Who spared not His own Child,
With Him freely gifts are piled.
Gifts of grace for every need,
Gifts of power His Word to heed.
Since He gave me Christ for free
What could be too much to plead?
Since He gave His Son for all,
I’ll give Him my life, my all.

Sky is bright–there’s no more veil!
Jesus’ love will never fail.
All God’s wrath on sin is done
When God gave up His dear Son.
